Membership

If you are interested in joining SCARD, please email [email protected] to verify if your institution has a current membership. If not, you will be sent an application form.

SCARD was established in 1966 to provide a forum for Chairs of Academic Radiology Departments to discuss unique challenges that face us. Member benefits include:

  • Timely communications related to industry issues
  • Participation in a number of strategic initiatives affecting the industry
  • Inclusion in important member surveys
  • Access to members-only survey results

Members are also invited to attend Society meetings held in the spring and the fall, both of which provide opportunities to attend expert sessions and interact with peers from throughout the United States.

ELIGIBILITY:
All departments of radiology affiliated with a Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME)-accredited medical school (or combined LCME and Commission on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CAMCS) in Canada are eligible for membership in the Society. Each department shall be represented by its chair or acting/interim chair. Exceptions to the eligibility requirements will be considered by the Board of Directors.

All applicants must submit a current curriculum vitae (CV) with their application. Please email your current CV to [email protected] in order to complete the application process.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES:
Active — Current chairs, acting chairs, and/or co-chairs. Dues are $1,500.00. (Approximately 2% allocated for the annual donation to the Academy of Radiology Research)

Emeritus — Any former member may become an emeritus member of the Society upon application to the Secretary-Treasurer. No dues required.

Canadian — While our systems may vary, the issues faced by Canadian and American Chairs are comparable. A different perspective would certainly be welcomed and valued by our members. Dues for Canadian chairs are $150.00 USD.

International — While our systems may vary, the issues faced by International and American Chairs are comparable. A different perspective would certainly be welcomed and valued by our members. Dues for International chairs are $150.00 USD.

Military — Current Active Duty military chairs. The membership may be transferable within the year to a successor Chair of Radiology in the same military department. Dues for active military chairs are $35.00.
